Shortlist: Micro Fiction Writing Competition S2, Round 6

Empty Nest

It’s finally here, the shortlist for our 6th and last round of this series of micro fiction writing competitions. Apologies for how long the process has taken this time around. I moved my family over 1300 kms away and to say the process has been a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns is an understatement. We are still not in our rental home (one more week to go) after it was delayed a few weeks, and I’ve got my computer set up in our holiday rental accomodation so that I can finally get this post up and put an end to the misery of waiting for your all. Your patience has been amazing and I thank you all for sticking with me.

I’m still hoping to have the anthology published and available by Mothers day so fingers crossed there are no more big dramas or events for us over the next few months.

Now for the big news. The shortlist for round 6 of this series of the Mum Life Stories Micro Fiction Writing Competition.

Writers were asked to write a story of 500 words or less around the theme ‘Empty Nest’. They could interpret it any way they saw fit as long as it was in narrative form. I’m happy to say that 99% of submissions stuck to these guidelines and made reading for us judges, a pleasurable experience.
